Abu Jaafar Muhammad Ibn Jarir al-Tabari was a great Shari’a scholar and historian who produced a prodigious chain of history concerning the rise and fall of various Muslim sects.   His outstanding work, Tarikh al-Tabari has become a pivotal source of information for many generations of historians, especially pertaining to Islamic history and civilization. His work started to gain its remarkable popularity upon its translation into Persian in the year 963CE, upon the royal order of the Samanid Prince, Mansur Ibn Nuh.
