Quotable Quotes

Words are under your control until you have spoken them, but you come under their control once you have spoken them. So guard your tongue as you guard your gold, for many a word snatches away blessings and brings adversity.- (Sayyidina Ali ibn Abi Talib)

Humour Without Malice

Haris bin 'Abbad, one of the rulers of Andalus, was looking to capture 'Adi bin Abi Rabi'ah in order to exact revenge from him. His problem, and that of many of his guards, was that he didn't know what Ibn Abi Rabi'ah looked like. A prisoner said to one of the guards, "Will you free me if I show you where Abi Rabi'ah is?" He said, "Yes, I promise." After an oath from him, he said, "I am 'Adi bin Abi Rabi'ah," and remembering his promise and oath, the guard just let him go free.

O Lord show us things as they really are. (hadith)
